Type of Ferrous Steel
At sun metal & alloys, we have a wide variety of commonly used high nickel-based metal casting alloys for our customers' metal casting project needs. The casting material provides good temperature strength and corrosion resistance in the most demanding applications, including chemical, petrochemical, and aerospace.
In manufactures engineering components of the highest quality in which one disposable pattern produces one metal part only. These are the most widely used and versatile family of Stainless steel, which possess excellent & predictable corrosion resistance levels combined with excellent mechanical properties at both cryogenic and elevated temperatures. These alloys have limited corrosion resistance but are popular due to their low cost and use as a strong, hard, and fairly tough high-temperature alloy.
Duplex Stainless Steel Casting is the casting process that uses duplex stainless steel as the raw material. Stainless steel casting is made from a mix of 50%: 50% austenitic and ferritic phases. So it is known as austenitic-ferritic stainless steel casting. This grade casting offers a combination of higher strengths and good corrosion resistance, especially in seawater environment applications. At the same time, these alloys also offer good toughness at lower temperatures. Its higher strengths provide erosion resistance.
These alloys are ferromagnetic, ductile, and typically contain less than 30% of chromium in their composition. They possess body-centered cubic (bcc) crystal structures. This grade has good ductility and formability, but high-temperature mechanical properties are inferior to the austenitic stainless steels. The toughness of the grade is limited at low temperatures and in heavy sections. Some ferritic stainless steels (such as types 409 and 405) are used, for example, in mufflers, exhaust systems, kitchen counters, and sinks, as they are more cost-efficient than other stainless steels. Other more highly alloyed steels low in C and N (such as types 444 and 261) are costlier but are highly resistant to chloride.
Ni-Resist castings can be specified in either a Grey Iron base material or an SG Iron-based material. These materials have been developed to offer good resistance to seawater and alkaline corrosion, scaling resistance, thermal expansion, frictional wear, oxidation, structural stability, cryogenic applications, and erosion. Primarily used in applications where service temperatures exceed 650 C upto 1150 C, heat-resistant cast steels exhibit higher rupture strength and creep properties than their wrought counterparts. These materials lie somewhere in-between what is usually considered stainless steels and superalloys.
Type of Non Ferrous Steel
Tin bronze is strong and hard and has very high ductility. This combination of properties gives them a high load-carrying capacity, good wear resistance, and the ability to withstand the pounding. The alloys are noted for their corrosion resistance in seawater and brines. Typical industrial applications include fittings used to 550 F, gears, bushings, bearings, pump impellers, and many more.
High tensile brass, which is alloyed with aluminum, manganese, silicon, etc. which makes this alloy almost as hard as aluminum bronze but considerably more comfortable to process. Aluminum Bronzes are a family of copper-based alloys that use iron and nickel in their chemistry - but rely on aluminum as the principal alloying element. Aluminum significantly adds to the strength that it is similar to that of medium carbon steel. The additional advantage is that aluminum bronze also possesses excellent corrosion resistance. It is that strength and corrosion resistance that gave rise to the early use of aluminum bronze.
